The first rank of both courses, for as long as you like. In SQL that is the Rookie Detective arc: 8 cases, 2 drills, the rank exam and your certificate. In Excel it is the Ledger Clerk arc: 14 cases, 3 drills, the rank exam and your certificate. You also get one investigation in each course, the SQL sandbox and the sample interview questions. It is a free plan, not a trial, so nothing switches off and we never ask for card details.

Far enough to work with. SQL starts at your first SELECT and finishes on window functions: ROW_NUMBER, RANK, LAG and LEAD, PARTITION BY, running totals, chained CTEs and multi-table joins. Excel starts at typing in a cell and finishes on INDEX and MATCH two-way lookups, PivotTables, charts, conditional formatting and text cleanup. Neither course assumes any prior experience, and each concept arrives when a case needs it rather than as a lecture.

Both are open on the free plan, with the bigger jobs behind Full Access. In the SQL sandbox you get 2 of the sample datasets, 1 CSV of your own to query straight away, and bar and line charts from any result. In the Excel sandbox you get the whole spreadsheet: every example workbook, blank books, the full ribbon, pivots, charts and five sheets a book. Full Access opens every SQL dataset, 5 of your own files at once so you can JOIN across them, the remaining chart types, chart colours and export without a watermark, and importing your own CSV into the Excel sandbox.

Cases run on standard SQL (PostgreSQL-compatible). Everything you learn, from SELECTs and JOINs to aggregations, subqueries and window functions, transfers directly to MySQL, SQLite, BigQuery, Redshift and most other databases.

No. The spreadsheet runs in your browser: real formulas, real fills, real PivotTables and charts, nothing to download and no licence to buy. The skills are the ones you use in Excel or Google Sheets the next morning.
