These terms form a legal agreement between you and QueryCase. If you have any questions, email hello@querycase.com before you sign up.
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating a QueryCase account or using the platform in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.
2. The service
QueryCase is an online SQL learning platform operated as a trading name in the United Kingdom. The platform provides:
- A structured Learning Path of SQL mystery Cases across five detective ranks
- Investigations -- timed Cases with harder constraints for experienced users
- Sandbox Mode -- free exploration of real-world datasets with no guided structure
- A Leaderboard and public profile pages showing XP, rank and progress
- A Detective Certificate awarded upon completion of the full Learning Path
We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove features at any time. Where changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice.
3. Accounts
Creating an account
You must be at least 13 years old to create a QueryCase account. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement. If we discover an account belongs to someone under 13, we will terminate it and delete associated data.
Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@querycase.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
Accurate information
You agree to provide accurate and complete information when registering and to keep it up to date. QueryCase is not liable for any issues resulting from inaccurate account information you provide.
4. Plans & access
QueryCase offers two tiers of access:
- ✓Full Rookie Detective path (8 Cases)
- ✓Rookie level exam and certificate
- ✓Select Sandbox schemas
- ✓Leaderboard and public profile
- ✓Full Learning Path -- all 54 Cases
- ✓All five detective ranks to Chief
- ✓All Investigations
- ✓All Sandbox schemas and datasets
- ✓Detective Certificate (shareable)
The features included in each plan may change over time. If we remove a feature that was material to your Pro subscription, we will notify you at least 14 days in advance.
5. Billing & payment
Pro subscriptions are billed in advance on either a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. All payments are processed securely by Stripe -- QueryCase never sees, handles, or stores your card details.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You will not receive a reminder before renewal. To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel before your renewal date -- see the Cancellation section below.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. If we do, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the new price takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a price change constitutes your acceptance of the new price.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, we will attempt to retry it. If payment cannot be collected, your account will revert to the Free plan and you will lose access to Pro features until payment is resolved.
6. Refunds
All payments are non-refundable. By subscribing, you acknowledge and agree that QueryCase does not offer refunds on any subscription fees, whether monthly or annual, partial or full.
If you believe a charge was made in error -- for example, a duplicate payment or a billing issue on our end -- contact us at hello@querycase.com and we will review your case. Any goodwill consideration is entirely at our discretion and does not set a precedent.
We recommend using the free plan to evaluate QueryCase before subscribing to Pro.
7. Cancellation
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period -- you retain full Pro access until that date.
After cancellation, your account reverts to the Free plan. Your progress, XP, rank, and case history are preserved -- you simply lose access to content locked behind Pro.
Cancelling does not delete your account. To delete your account and all associated data, contact hello@querycase.com.
8. Acceptable use
You agree to use QueryCase lawfully and respectfully. The following are prohibited:
Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension or termination without notice or refund.
9. Intellectual property
QueryCase content
All Cases, Investigations, Sandbox schemas, datasets, copy, course structure, visual design, and software are the intellectual property of QueryCase. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of any QueryCase content to you.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and use QueryCase solely for your own personal, non-commercial learning purposes while your account is active.
Your content
Your username and any content you submit to public areas of the platform (such as your profile) remain yours. By making this content visible on QueryCase, you grant us a limited license to display it as part of the service. We will never sell your content or use it for advertising purposes.
10. The Detective Certificate
Upon completing the full QueryCase Learning Path, you will receive a Detective Certificate -- a digital credential you can share publicly, including on LinkedIn.
The certificate confirms completion of the QueryCase Learning Path. QueryCase makes no guarantee, representation, or warranty that the certificate will be recognized, valued, or accepted by any employer, institution, or third party. It is a record of your achievement on our platform, not a regulated qualification.
The certificate is personal and non-transferable. Obtaining or sharing a certificate that was not legitimately earned violates these terms and may result in account termination.
11. Availability & changes
We aim to keep QueryCase available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The service is provided "as is" and may be subject to downtime for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control.
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any part of the service at any time. For material changes that affect Pro subscribers, we will provide at least 14 days' notice by email. In the event we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UK law:
QueryCase is a learning platform. We are not liable for any employment outcomes, interview results, salary changes, or career decisions made based on your use of the platform or your Detective Certificate.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages -- including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of opportunity -- arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to QueryCase in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
13. Termination
Termination by you
You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@querycase.com. If you have an active Pro subscription, cancelling your account does not entitle you to a refund for any unused portion.
Termination by us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately and without notice if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or cause harm to the platform or other users. In such cases no refund will be issued.
On termination, your license to use QueryCase ends immediately. Your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of QueryCase shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves or when legal requirements change. For material changes, we will notify you by email and with a notice inside the app at least 14 days before the new terms take effect.
Continuing to use QueryCase after updated terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with updated terms, you should cancel your subscription and close your account before they come into force.
The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
